I just got home from a quick vacation in Las Vegas together with some friends. We had a great time, nice dinners and time by the pool. I also had time to finally get some real rest. Las Vegas has a lot to offer and many different places to stay at, some better than others, this was far the best trip i’ve had to Vegas.
After many trips to Las Vegas I must say that Wynn Las Vegas is definitely my favorite after all places I've stayed at and they have great breakfast at Tableau at Wynn if that is important to you. The suites are wonderfully planned and makes the stay a pleasant experience. We had dinner at Andrea's, Lakeside and lunch at some other places. All restaurants at Wynn Las Vegas offer vegan menus in partnership with vegan chef Tal Ronnen at Crossroads in Los Angeles. Since I'm a big fan of Crossroads it was a easy choice going to Wynn to try their menu.
Next time you plan on going to Las Vegas, consider staying at Wynn Las Vegas.
So let's talk about what makes Wynn the place to stay at when in Vegas.
Wynn Las Vegas
Wynn Las Vegas, often simply referred to as Wynn, is a luxury resort and casino located on the Las Vegas Strip. The $2.7-billion resort is named after casino developer Steve Wynn and is the flagship property of Wynn Resorts. Connected with Wynn is its sister resort, Encore. Encore is if I may say so, more towards the younger crowd but still a very nice location.
One thing that should make Wynn very interesting for travelers around the world and in the U.S is the list of awards Wynn has received. It has recieved AAA five diamond, Mobil five-star, Forbes five-star, Michelin five star, and Zagat Survey Top U.S. Hotel ratings, as well as one Michelin star for its restaurant Wing Lei. But enough of the awards and lists, how is the hotel?
I would say that the hotel is based on the saying “if you know, you know“. That is, if you know what you look for in a hotel, you probably know about Wynn Las Vegas. It is clear that the hotel and it’s staff knows what the visitors are looking for and from my experience, they make the stay very comfortable. They make an effort to get the details right, like your name and what your preferences are which is a nice touch as well.
restaurants
I knew Wynn had some of the best restaurants in Las Vegas but I was still surprised to see the level of quality. The restaurants at Wynn make great food and especially interesting is the vegan menu where they’ve done something great. Wynn has some of the most fancy restaurants in las vegas and it is nice to see vegan food getting the same care.
Andrea's is great but I must say, the American-style restaurant Tableau with it’s breakfast take the price right now. If you are a guest at Wynn, choose to sit in the conservatory. The garden and patio really is the place to be a sunny morning, like any great outdoor place but with a bit more class. Almost like the calm outdoor area at Beverly Hotel in Los Angeles.
Lakeside at Wynn offers a vegan menu upon request, like most restaurants. However, the vegan food here is really nice. So do not miss the opportunity to try something while here. It has my approval.
There are many great restaurants in Las Vegas and Wynn and Encore has probably some of the best ones. Next time I’ll visit I’ll write more about the others. For now, I focused on some of my favorites.
Vegan MENUS at wynn
Every restaurant at Wynn and Encore offers a vegan and vegetarian menu which is great for those who wants to change their diet but still want a nice experience when going out. These dishes are designed and prepared at the same caliber the other items on the menu so don’t be discourage if you need to bring out the “vegan menu“. As I wrote earlier, much because of the partnership Wynn and Encore has with the vegan chef Tal Ronnen you should go vegan or vegitarian when you stay at these hotels. You will not be dissapointed.
One thing I hope change soon; The vegan menus are not posted outside the restaurant, you won’t find them on the restaurants website and they will not offer them to you when you are seated. As with everything special (this shouldn’t be), you must know they have a vegan menu and you must ask for it. It's unfortunate not everyone knows about these very special dishes but now you know.
One thing to note, upscale vegan dining in Vegas doesn’t get much better than Andrea’s. Andrea’s serves a variety of vegan options, one great option is the Impossible Burger. The Lakeside is also wonderful. Just knowing that a chef put some time and thought into the menu is nice and makes the experience much more pleasant.
Do not miss the Lychee Blossom Martini above in the video and in the picture. I just wish this is available back in Sweden… Just perfect.
Rooms at wynn and encore
The rooms and suites at Wynn is perfect. Roomy and nice, not too much but just lagom (goldilocks zone). Staying at Wynn, especially the suites will be a nice experience for everyone, even the most well travelled friends of mine are completely happy staying at Wynn and trust me, that says a lot.
The rooms are roomy and the bed is comfortable. If you’ve stayed at a better hotel before you will be completely fine with Wynn. It is a big hotel but as I said before, they make it feel small with because of the attention to detail.
Pool areas at wynn and Encore
The pool areas at Wynn and Encore offer large and temperature-controlled pools and Jacuzzis. It is maybe not the most beautiful place I’ve stayed at but it is a nice experience relaxing by the pool. If you have the means, reserve a private cabana at the Wynn, Encore or Tower Suites pools for a day. It is a nice addition and can be worth the price if there is a lot of people around.
Another reason to stay at Wynn
One thing I don’t like with resorts are the waste and the complete disregard for the environment. This is getting better in most places and Wynn is no exception. Wynn and I believe Encore has a green initiative that makes it worthwhile spending time there. They have a few things that I hope they will improve and expand on.
RECYCLING:
They have developed a recycling program that diverted approximately 1,595 tons of waste from landfills annually.
They have reduced 1,300 lbs (590kg) of paper through Paperless checkout (pretty basic today but good nonetheless).
The wallpaper is reclaimed during guest room remodels (also pretty basic but they might improve on this in the future?).
WATER EFFICIENCY:
They have reduced the use of over 15 million gallons (a lot) of water per year by installing turf grass on a five acre parcel.
They have installed high-efficiency toilets that have reduced water consumption by 1,168,000 gallons per year compared to standard toilets.
They have developed a linen reuse program that has reduced water consumption by 276,480 gallons per year.
So, this was my “little” opinion on Wynn Las Vegas. Will visit again.
