Fencing in Stockholm
Walking into the oldest fencing club in Sweden, the place has quite a lot of history. You can see it in the vintage photographs on the walls that they care about their legacy. Something is grounding about practicing an ancient sport , I enjoy tennis and walk around with my friends on the golf course (I don't play golf myself) as a caddy or mood manager.
Fencing is just as much a mental game as it requires you to move. There is a specific kind of focus required when someone is charging at you with a blade. Everything else in your life, the emails, the meetings, and the stress of the day, just disappears.
Leaving the club after a session, exhausted but strangely clear-headed, is a reminder that some of the best ways to stay sharp in the modern world are the ones that have been around for centuries.
After the class I went to see an old friend in the city and saw a girl standing up by the Swedish flag. So far one of the year’s best moments.
